The Refuge. Pointe Mouillee State Game Area. One of my favorites spots in southeast Michigan. This little preserve is great for bird watching and escaping the crowd. Michigan Landscape Photography.
OTTER CREEK - Platte Bay. My favorite spot in the state. At 6AM this place is pure solace. No one is around. The sun rises from over the hillsand it’s peace on earth. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Rockwood - Michigan Landscape Photography. All over southern Michigan there exist beautiful hardwood forests and idyllic lily ponds; this view shows off both in a Monet-worthy patch of Michigan.
Birch - Michigan Landscape Photography. A beautiful stand of birch in the Leelanau Peninsula. Gorgeous little patches of birch exist all over to be enjoyed in this part of the state and the UP.
Morning Row. Lake of the Clouds, Porcupine Mountains. I think the Porcupines are Michigan’s best kept secret. Michigan Landscape Photography
Horseshoe Harbor At Dawn - Michigan Landscape Photography. Amazing lichens and super hardy plants live on these rocks, which are some of the best preserved examples of bedrock beaches in Michigan.
The Carp River meanders out of the Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains. Rolling hills, a kiss of sunrise on the leaves, river snaking through the valley. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Tumbled Timber - Highway 2 - Michigan Landscape Photography. All over the UP you'll find boggy swamps and/or shallow lakes that are simultaneously sprouting with new growth and bringing down the old.
West Traverse Bay - The Peninsula - Michigan Landscape Photography. The Old Mission Peninsula that branches out north of Traverse City is one of the gems of Michigan.
Little Presque Isle Park has one of the best beaches for playing in the soft sand, jumping in Harlow Creek, or making the fun wade out to the island. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Porcupine Mountains State Park. Hiking through the Porcupine mountains in the fall is a treat. Besides the amazing colors the forest floor is full of foliage and flora. Michigan Landscape Photography.
PEACE ON THE BAY - Otter Creek at Platte Bay I encourage you to take a walk down to this - my most favorite beach in Michigan. Michigan Landscape Photography.
RIVER IN WINTER. On this wintry day I brought out my camera and took a drive down Haggerty into the lower Huron Metro Park looking for something beautiful to share. Michigan Landscape Photography.
NAWADAHA FALLS - Presque Isle River One of the prettiest series of waterfalls in the state. Nawahada falls sits below Manido Falls and Manabezho Falls. Michigan Landscape Photography.
ICE CAVES - Betsie Dunes Nature Preserve Ice caves built up all over the shores of Lake Michigan to amazing height the year of 2014. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Mary MacDonald Preserve. The only black stone beach in Michigan I've found. The only time I've seen this color of beach is in Hawaii but we have something like it here! Michigan Landscape Photography.
Copper Harbor. One of Michigan's most beautiful and remote spots. Fish Cove is at the tip of the Keweenaw Penninsula 15 miles down a jeep trail. It's secluded, rugged. Michigan Landscape Photography.
THE BOG - Tahquemanom Falls State Park. Marshy, pikey, boggy. The swamps of Tahquemanom are beautiful, almost pastoral, in a way - manicured by the seasons. Michigan Landscape Photography.
AMONG THE CEDARS - Otter Creek. The best cedar forest hike in MI. Take the trail that leads into the woods off the Otter Creek Beach bridge. Bring mosquito repellant. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Little Presque Isle. A bright gently lapping wave is always a pleasure to look at. Dig your toes in, walk this beach with your love, and watch the sunrise or sunset. Michigan Landscape Photography.
LATE HARVEST - Ciccone Vineyard, Sutton Bay. A classic pastoral Michigan scene that would make Tuscany jealous. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Michigan Landscape Photography. Texture, balanced symmetry, lines, chaos, movement, stillness, this image has it all for me. I love the elegant meeting of these two stones found on Lake Superior.
I love the rocks that sit along the shore of Little Presque Isle. Its fun to study them and notice the shapes, line, structure, wrinkles, pores, expression of each one. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Mary Macdonald Preserve. I like this photo for the stillness of the water, the contrails, and the texture of rocks. I could sit for hours and enjoy the tranquil beauty. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Lake Superior. The King of Lakes in the Western Hemisphere. This is the ultimate wilderness in Michigan and has taken more lives than all our forests combined. Michigan Landscape Photography.
Island on Kent Lake from Turtlehead Point. Eight inches had already fallen overnight and the morning promised a few more. Snow was falling hard while I took this photo. Michigan Landscape Photography.
PICTURED ROCKS - Grand Sable Lake. A moody Michigan fall day. These clouds are weather formations that you see from all the moisture put in the air by our great lakes. Michigan Landscape Photography.
